About the event
For our activity, MMNA will be stitching-in-public at the Capitol Market in Charleston on June 20 th from 11:00 to 2:00.
Tables and chairs will be provided. Members are encouraged to bring your current project to stitch. MMNA will be inviting the public to “Take a Stitch for Alzheimer’s”. The Alzheimer’s Association has provided a copy of their Longest Day logo. Soft purple Aida
fabric has been mounted on stretcher bars so it will remain taunt and be easy to transport as it travels through many
stitchers’ hands. Interested MMNA members will be asked to assist by stitching the dark purple letter outlines and the sunshine in
advance. Members of the public will be encouraged to take stitches at the Capitol Market using the variegated floss to
fill in the letters. Once it is completed, it will be framed and presented to the Charleston Alzheimer’s Association for
display in their office. A ledger will be provided and attached to the back of the finished piece to record everyone that
contributes a stitch.
